The landscape of Mac software is perpetually evolving. A key development to consider is Apple's planned removal of the Rosetta 2 translation layer from macOS starting in late 2026. This means Mac applications that are not compiled as native Universal binaries for Apple Silicon (M1, M2, etc.) will no longer run. This reinforces the importance of using software that is actively developed for the Mac platform.
