Directed by Eric Brevig, this 3D science fantasy action-adventure film offers a modernized retelling of Jules Verne's classic 1864 novel. The story follows the brilliant but eccentric geology professor Trevor Anderson (Brendan Fraser). After discovering a copy of Verne's novel containing annotated notes from his missing brother, Trevor embarks on a perilous expedition to find him. Accompanied by his reluctant nephew Sean (Josh Hutcherson) and their beautiful Icelandic mountain guide, Hannah (Anita Briem), they follow the clues that lead them deep into a volcanic crater and into a bizarre, dangerous lost world at the planet's core.
