After a night of heavy drinking, the two have an intimate encounter that leads to Anu becoming pregnant. Arjun, feeling trapped and unready for fatherhood, suggests an abortion and accuses Anu of intentionally ruining his life. Hurt by his lack of maturity, Anu vows to divorce him once her studies are complete and refuses to let him be part of the child's life.
