Netzwerk A1 is strictly aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The A1 level, defined as a "breakthrough" level, implies that the learner can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases. The textbook is divided into two volumes: A1.1 (chapters 1–6) and A1.2 (chapters 7–12).
