Stanley Ipkiss (Jim Carrey) is a nice, ordinary bank clerk whose life is one of quiet desperation. After a particularly bad day, he discovers a mystical mask. When he puts it on, he becomes "The Mask," a zoot-suited, green-faced, reality-bending maniac who acts on every impulse and desire of the wearer. The Mask's chaotic, rule-breaking fun and high-profile capers soon attract the attention of a powerful local crime lord, Dorian Tyrell (Peter Greene), who wants the mask for himself. Meanwhile, the real Stanley must navigate his growing feelings for Tina Carlyle (Cameron Diaz), a beautiful nightclub singer who is also Tyrell's girlfriend.
