The film is set in a dystopian mid-21st century where Earth is ravaged by crop-destroying blights and dust storms, pushing humanity toward extinction. The story follows Joseph Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), a widowed engineer and former NASA pilot turned farmer, who stumbles upon a secret NASA facility.
