The film takes the controversial plot of Nabokov’s masterpiece and resets it in contemporary (2007) Russia. The story revolves around a mother and her teenage daughter who are struggling financially. They rent a room to a writer (Gennady Petrovich). The lonely mother falls in love with him, but this triggers a terrible jealousy in the daughter. In response, the daughter uses her burgeoning sexuality to try and seduce the writer away from her mother.
