In a landmark move, the Indian government banned a total of 25 OTT platforms, including Ullu, ALTT, and Big Shots, for streaming content deemed obscene, vulgar, and pornographic in nature. The decision, made in July 2025, came after multiple warnings and the removal of over 100 web series from the platform. The government noted that while the platform would remove or edit series for a temporary period, it would often re-upload the unedited version later, thereby attempting to circumvent the warnings. The block was enforced under the Information Technology Act, 2000, Section 67/67A (for publishing obscene content), Section 294 IPC, and the Indecent Representation of Women Act, 1986. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) had also raised concerns over the nature of the content available on such platforms. ullu unrated web series link
